Healthy Living
The program was designed and implemented by occupational therapy students, aiming to support and strengthen health management through practical, functional, and adaptive activities. The interventions included activities such as developing healthy eating habits, food selection and preparation, physical activity, cooking, grocery shopping, personal hygiene, management of household tasks, social interaction, and participation in community activities, with the aim of ensuring autonomy, improving quality of life, and strengthening participation in meaningful daily activities.
At the same time, special emphasis was placed on empowering the staff of the care setting itself, so that a supportive environment for health management could be maintained by providing consistent encouragement, opportunities for participation, and continuous support. Through this approach, occupational therapy emerges as a key pillar in shaping supportive environments and promoting health, empowering adults with intellectual disabilities to manage health not as an isolated intervention, but as an integral part of their daily lives and participation.
