Identity Works is currently developing an innovative occupational therapy handbook and intervention protocol to support transgender and gender-diverse individuals who engage in chest binding.

Led by Sofia Margaritidou (Identity Works, European University Cyprus) in collaboration with an international team of occupational therapists and researchers, this project aims to provide evidence-informed, gender-affirming, trauma-informed, and neurodiversity-affirming guidance for occupational therapy practice.

The handbook will explore chest binding through an occupational lens, offering practical recommendations for assessment, intervention, harm reduction, advocacy, and client-centred support while promoting occupational justice, autonomy, and participation.

Further updates will be shared as the project progresses. We look forward to contributing to the growing field of inclusive and affirming occupational therapy practice.
